After a couple of days in Frejus we moved on to Argeles which is in the foot hills of the Pyrenees. The mountains provide a stunning backdrop to the town.
We had made good time on the journey, arriving before the mobile was ready for us. While waiting we thought we would take advantage of the pool. All the campsites we have been on have their own set of rules and regulations unique to them. The warning signs in Argeles were there when we entered the pool area and there were two bronzed lifeguards strutting around a pool the size of a bath tub.
Not thinking anymore of it I jumped into the pool, it was bliss, lovely cool water, refreshing after a long journey. But as I resurfaced there was pandemonium. Lifeguards shouting at me to get out. I thought there had been some major catastrophe. It turns out the problem was my swimwear, you are only allowed to wear budgie smugglers, not the swim shorts I was wearing. With the fuss you'd think I'd left a floater in the pool and that they were going to have to drain and re fill it.
We debated buying some trunks for the following day, but decided that the sight of me walking round the pool in a pair of tight fitting Speedo's with my belly hanging over the front was probably a greater offence than the shorts debacle, so off to the beach we went.
We found a bar sellling 80 beers from around the world so that was us sorted for the two days we were there, we had some nice Belgium beers whilst sat watching the football.
On the subject of football we debated who we were going to support after the elimination ...... not England we expected that, but Spain. We expected to be following Spain as we travelled through the country, and even our third choice Croatia have gone. So much for our expert knowledge of football!
After a good couple of days we have now done France and its off to Barcelona and the Nou Camp.
