After a great time in Barca, we started to make our way to Javea, where we have a 5 day stop over to recharge.
We had a couple of stops on the way down, the first was in Cambrils, where we met Sue and Andrew for a couple of drinks. Bob knows Sue and Andrew through the Sunday night pub quiz team in the Sportsman on Benty Lane in Sheffield. As they were in Cambrils and we were passing through it would have been rude not to meet up.
After Cambrils we overnighted in a small village called Benifallet where Bobs friend Pete and his wife June live. Unfortunately we weren't able to stay with them as when they heard we were coming they had to go back back to England for an appointment. (Just bad timing I think!)
Pete runs a fishing business on the river Ebro, I've heard lots of stories about the fishing and long evenings in the bar, so it was great to visit and see it all for myself. We had a walk round and in the evening we met George, Rob, Claire, Debs and Salvador for a few drinks in the local bar.
The followong morning at breakfast in the hotel there were two local guys next to us eating lamb chops and chips washed down by a bottle of local red wine - that's how to do breakfast!
We made our way to Javea whete we have an appt close to the beach. We have developed a good routine starting with scramelette for breakfast - a mix between scrambled eggs and an omelette as we don't have a frying pan, then off to the beach followed by a lunch time beer, follwed by a snooze on the beach, followed by football and a couple of beers, something to eat, followed by football and a couple of beers and bed. Its all very stressful! We've found a bar selling some Belgium and German beers that's showing all the football, so that's us sorted!
We've had bladder problems in the appt. I know what you are thinking two old(ish) men drinking too much beer, but its not that at all. The water bladder in the boiler has had a temporary repair, which means that hot water is intermittent. You can guarantee that when you are washing the pots there is plenty of hot water but going in the shower is like buying a lottery ticket - the anticipation of a nice warm shower is generally a disappointment followed by expletives coming from the bathroom, but every so often you randomly just get lucky and the boiler gods favour you. We've decided the cold showers on the beach are warmer than the one in the apartment so we are thinking of taking the soap and loofah with us and get scrubbed up there instead.
We are in our 4th week of the trip, I can't believe how fast it is going, but at the same time it feels as though we have been away for ever.
Off to Granada tomorrow and then the Alhambra Palace on Wednesday.
We continue to put random stuff on Facebook so if you want to see more photos and updates check out:
