We left Menton and drove down the coast road to Monaco and Monte Carlo. It was a stunning drive with fantastic scenery. We parked the van in the casino car park in between a Bentley convertible and a Lamborghini. We went for an explore round the marina and walked part of the Grand Prix circuit. Don't think we bumped into anyone famous but to be honest I could have been stood next to someone and I wouldn't have known!
After Monaco we continued the drive to Frejus and our next camp site. Up until now the campsite sat nav coordinates have been pretty reliable. However this time they took us to what looked like the farm used for the 'Carry on Camping' film. After driving round Frejus for the 4th time we decided we should give in and read the directions we'd been given. Then as if by magic we found the proper campsite! The sat nav is now in the bin!
We went to get some provisions from the camp shop but couldn't find the eggs, Bob spotted a Eurocamp courier and asked if she knew where they were "no I'm new here" she said "do you want me to ask for you". Feeling a bit inadequate with our language skills we replied " yes please" she turned round to the cashier and in broad scouse said "where are the eggs love". Me and Bob just looked at each other and burst out laughing!
We watched the England game, what can you say. Same old same old no movement no ideas. As no one expected England to get out of the group stages, I think its fair to say that it's the first tournament that I can remember where England have met expectations. Well done lads, after a hard season and long flights you deserve a good rest! Muppets.
I forgot to mention that when the automated car park facility in Milan retrieved the 'van' the garage door opened and a yellow Ferrari appeared. It would have been impolite to say anything. Photo attached Is Bob getting into our new car outside the Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo.
