Venice

After a couple of chill out days in Coatia we packed up and drove back through Slovenia into Italy.
The campsite site in Ca'Savio is set amongst pine trees and fronted by an endless sandy beech. Having checked in our first task was to find a bar showing the England match.  As we were playing Italy we expected high excitement, but it all felt a bit subdued.
With a suitable bar selected we donned our '66 England shirts and made our way to 'Dave's bar (not the proper name he just looked like a Dave I used to work with) and braced ourselves for the game.
It was a great atmosphere in the bar with English and Italians both cheering for their respective countries, plus Eric the Irish (from Ireland and looked like Eric Cantona) not quite sure who he was supporting. We enjoyed the game and thought England played well, shame about the result I thought we at least deserved a draw. Roll on next the next match.
Sunday we went to Venice which lived up to all expectations. We went by boat which is a great way to arrive in this beautiful city. We did all the touristy stuff apart from a romantic gondola ride, I'll save that for when I come back with Alison. Although at one point we were followed by a bloke selling red roses, he was suitably rebuffed, I think he understood our Italian!
We went to the Opera on Sunday night to see the Barber of Seville. It was a bit different in that it was set in a Venetian Palace and as the story progressed rather than the scenery changing the audience move to different rooms. Fantastic experience.
We visited Lido de Jesolo yesterday morning and did some cloud bathing in the afternoon. Today we are off to Milan to see the San Siro stadium.
