Bruce & The Dark Lord

Well that's it then, Bruce and his side kicks have gone to the promised land, and Wednesday are left to pick up the pieces as we head into the start of the season.

The whole sordid episode reminded me of a story line from Harry Potter, in summary Draco Malfoy aka Steve Bruce, and his two Slytherin side kicks Crabbe & Goyle have been seduced by the evil Lord Voldermort (Mike Ashley). Worth noting that the characteristics of Slytherins are; cunning, resourcefulness and ambition. While Harry Potter (Chansiri - you can picture him in little round glasses) has been fighting the advances of evil. We've even had Draco Bruce talking Parceltongue ie no one had a clue what he was talking about apart from the Dark Lord and Harry Chansiri.

Of course it will all end in tears for Lord Voldermort and the Slytherins as good will always conquer evil. Following the SWFC club statement Harry Chansiri is clearly displeased and will be using all the powers at his disposal to get retribution over the Dark Lord, so we await the release of his Petronis charm to beat the dementors, as he assembles all the pieces of the horcrux before striking with his legal challenge.

All a bit of nonsense and if you've never read Harry Potter it just means truth is often stranger than fiction, rarely have I seen a deal that is so farcical and alienates so many people. Bruce to replace Rafa! Really! I can only think that Bruce has so many personal reasons to take the job his heart has taken over his head.

Ashley promises the world but rarely delivers and as with his business empire he just tries to muscle his way through, it's just his way of doing business, very successful for him not sure about the devastation he causes on the way and to the people he is supposedly doing business for.

Anyway as I sit in the Three Broomstick's drinking my butterbeer and contemplate what next for Wednesday, (I'm no football expert) I just hope that we concentrate less on the names to replace Bruce, but more on what they can do for the club. Experience of navigating the Championship and/or lower English leagues I would say is an essential, the Championship is one of the toughest leagues in Europe and will catch out the unprepared!

But just look at what our neighbours (they who can't be named!) have achieved with no top flight management experience. Wilder has taken a group of individuals and formed a team that out performs the sum of its parts. At Wednesday we appear to have lots of very expensive parts but from multiple manufacturers that just don't always add up to the complete engine. I hope Chansiri has some good advisers around him who understand what needs to be done and who can steer him in the right direction, the answer might not be in Portugal, Germany or Holland but much closer than he thinks.

I await the next chapter with interest, but you wouldn't bet against a 3rd round FA Cup Quiditch match between Newcastle and Wednesday, roll on January if Bruce is still there.
